Our Client provide remote diagnostic solutions and services to the automotive industry. They offer cutting-edge, expert diagnostics using both after-market and original equipment manufacturer tools to provide safe and accurate repairs. The company was founded in 2010 and is headquartered in Plano, TX with UK offices in Peterlee and Bedfordshire.

  

Salary £30,000 - £35,000pa

Hours of work: 37.5 per week

Location: UK — Peterlee / Luton

Department: IT

Reports to: IT Management

Travel: UK and international travel may be required   37.5 per week

 

About the Role

We are looking for a Desktop Support Technician to join our IT team and provide high-quality technical support across Our Client’s IT infrastructure, operational environments and business functions.

You will act as a key point of contact for end users, supporting on-site, remote, mobile and international colleagues. You’ll take ownership of IT onboarding and offboarding, user administration, device deployment, troubleshooting, asset management and day-to-day service delivery.

Working closely with IT, Tools and Operational teams, you’ll help maintain the availability, stability, security and performance of our technology environment while contributing to continuous improvement and business continuity.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys solving technical problems, delivering excellent customer service and working across a broad range of Microsoft and end-user technologies.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the single point of contact for IT end-user and desktop support issues.
  • Provide technical support to on-site, remote, mobile and international users, as well as customers and third-party partners.
  • Create and manage user accounts, permissions, security groups, password resets, authentication and account access.
  • Own the end-to-end IT onboarding and offboarding process, including hardware procurement, device imaging, deployment, asset management and equipment decommissioning.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network and connectivity issues across Windows and macOS environments.
  • Support Microsoft Windows 11, macOS, Apple iOS, Microsoft 365, Teams, OneDrive, Adobe products, Jira, TeamViewer and Zoom.
  • Administer and support Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Azure/Entra ID, Microsoft Intune and Cisco Meraki environments.
  • Maintain on-site end-user computing, network and data centre equipment.
  • Perform fault finding, triage, troubleshooting, root cause analysis and problem resolution.
  • Manage IT support tickets through to resolution, keeping users and stakeholders informed throughout the process.
  • Participate in escalation processes, major incidents, operational meetings and IT project delivery.
  • Monitor service availability and help ensure appropriate capacity, security and compliance standards are maintained.
  • Carry out routine maintenance, upgrades, repairs and firmware updates across supported hardware and infrastructure.
  • Create, maintain and improve technical procedures, user guides and knowledge base documentation.
  • Support IT service channels for international business functions, partners and support teams.
  • Provide out-of-hours support when required for development testing, maintenance and business-critical activities.
  • Contribute to IT and infrastructure improvement initiatives designed to enhance reliability, security, performance and the overall user experience.

 

About You

You’ll be a practical, customer-focused IT professional with strong troubleshooting skills and experience supporting end users in a busy business environment.

 

Essential Experience and Qualifications

  • GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Mathematics.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in an IT Service Desk, Desktop Support or EUC support role.
  • Experience supporting:
    • Microsoft Windows 11
    • Microsoft 365
    • Active Directory
    • Azure/Entra ID
    • Microsoft Intune
  • Experience with user account administration, hardware deployment, device imaging, asset management and onboarding/offboarding.
  • Experience troubleshooting desktop, laptop, mobile device, printer and peripheral hardware and software.
  • Experience supporting both Windows and macOS environments.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to users at different levels of technical understanding.
  • A structured approach to ticket management, prioritisation and problem resolution.

 

Desirable Experience and Qualifications

  • Degree, diploma or equivalent qualification in Information Technology or a related field.
  • IT certifications such as CompTIA, Microsoft Certified, ITIL Foundation or Cisco CCNA.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN and wireless networking.
  • Experience using IT Service Management (ITSM) tools and working in line with ITIL best practices.
  • Familiarity with endpoint security technologies including Microsoft Defender, BitLocker and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
  • Experience working in a multi-site or international organisation.

Working at Our Client

This role operates primarily within a professional office environment and involves regular use of computers, phones, printers and other standard office equipment.

The role may involve occasional lifting and carrying of equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, as well as standing, walking, reaching, bending, twisting and kneeling where required to perform essential duties.

Travel between our Peterlee and Luton sites, as well as occasional international travel, may be required based on business needs.
